Description

Sent to Singapore to help deter Japanese advances in the region, the battleship Prince of Wales and battle cruiser Repulse were symbols of British naval power. On December 8th, 1941,these two capital ships, escorted by two E Class destroyers (HMS Electra, HMS Express), one S Class destroyer (HMS Tenedos), and the Australian navy destroyer HMAS Vampire, sent out from Singapore to attack a Japanese invasion force. This mission was aborted and the group,minus the detached HMS Tenedos, turned back towards Singapore. However, they had already been spotted by Japanese aircraft and submarines, and in the ensuing bomb and torpedo attackby bombers, both capital ships were sunk.<ul><li>High-quality set of 1/700 scale Waterline Series assembly model kits.<li>Set includes ITEM 31615 British Battleship Prince of Wales, ITEM 31617 British Battle Cruiser Repulse, ITEM 31909 British E Class Destroyer (x2), and ITEM 31910 Australian Navy Destroyer HMAS Vampire.<li>Ship gun turrets feature polycaps to enable dynamic action poses.<li>Parts for a total of 19 Japanese bombers (12 Type 1 attack bomber Betty and 7 Type 96 attack bomber Nell) are also included to enable diorama creation of the ships under attack.<li>Ten 30cm long supports are conveniently included to mount the bombers for display.<li>Set comes in a new package labeled with special sticker.</ul>
